Kantha Quilt Small Batch Smock
Introducing the very first apron from our exciting new Small Batch Program: the limited-edition Kantha Smock. What happens when our design team discovers a stunning textile with a story, too perfect but too limited for our regular runs? Small Batch happens – our creative playground where textile obsession meets culinary craft.
Inspired by the 500-year-old Indian tradition of Kantha quilting – a beautiful form of upcycling where old textiles are reborn – we've partnered with artisans to bring you these uniquely indigo-hued quilts. For over 500 years, this practice has transformed cuttings of old fabrics into new treasures, and each smock in this collection embodies that rich history. You'll discover a unique arrangement of fabric patches, possibly featuring floral motifs, block prints, and even surprising details like sequins. The consistent indigo base and the cream and orange running stitch provide a unifying aesthetic, but the exact placement and combination of these elements ensure that no two smocks are alike.
Each apron in this Small Batch collection is individually numbered and certified, honoring these textiles full of infinite character but very finite availability.
Fabric: 12oz 100% Cotton
Care Instructions: We strongly recommend washing this apron separately (at least once) and hanging to dry. This is to avoid any dye transfer that may occur on your first washes, especially in darker colored aprons, and to limit shrinking in certain fabrics.
